Our research group centres its activity around methods of
computational inference such as the bootstrap and other Monte
Carlo methods, the statistics of extremes, and likelihood-based inference.
As far as applications are concerned the groups in statistics have
specialized in topics such as quality control, optimization of production
and environmental statistics. They also provide help with statistics for
several research groups within the EPFL and they develop links with local
industry through contracts for statistical analysis.
